For the purpose of effective guidance and supervision each student will be attached to a member of the staff who would be her advisor with her she can discuss the problem which confront her. The student should send her leave application through her Advisor. The Advisor will keep in touch with her wards and be responsible for their general welfare during the period of their stay in college.
The present educational system of India tends to make youth unemployable. Efforts have been taken to streamline the vocational stream at the plus 2 stage in the School Education. Accordingly special courses/programme have to be introduced in Teacher Education. Also to improve self-employability and to meet the demands of the society there is need for the women teacher trainees to be equipped with one or two certificate courses apart from their degrees with general subjects, optional and electives. English & Tamil Laboratory
Language Laboratory catering to the needs and innovative methods in the teaching of English has been functioning in this College after getting autonomy. In the beginning the laungage lab had Audio Facility comprising of Master Control Unit, Terminals with head phones and Tape Recorders.
The Tamil Language laboratory was established in 1999 and in the same year, The English Language Laboratory was expanded with sound proof devices, head phones and Air conditioning facilities . In the year 2004 the first stage of Computerisation of the English and Tamil language laboratories has been done .
Maths & Computer Laboratory
Maths Laboratory has been enhanced with materials and equipment through which mathematical concept can be made easy to understand.
Algeberic concepts which are abstract can be taught using simple aids to make the learning permanent. Models, charts and CDs are also available and low cost aids and cut outs are also used by student teachers for learning and for Practice teaching.
In 1988, Computer Education department was introduced for academic purposes, which followed the University of Madras syllabus.
In 1990, with the guidance of the HOD of Computer Science Department, University of Madaras, new Computer systems were introduced.
The department kept on growing from DOS till windows based systems. At present the laboratory is equipped with LAN mode.
The school was amalgamated to the college in the year 1935, ever since this has been our model school for the B.Ed student teachers who go for obervation of demonstration classes and also for practice teaching there. Every year nearly 40 to 50 teachers are allotted in this school for their practice teaching.
Laboratory Nursery School
This laboratory nursery school has been functioning since 1977, presently the school has been used as a laboratory school by the student teachers who opt Pre Primary as elective in B.Ed Course.

Extension Services Department
The Extension Services Department of St. Christopher’s College of education has been rendering its service to school community since 1955.The primary objective of Extension Service Department is to contribute to the Holistic development of present and future teachers as per the changing requirements of the society.

The Department continues to organize seminars, workshops and training programme to cater to the various needs of school community.Teaching Methodology, Evaluation procedure, Curriculum, Environment, Health etc or some of the thrust areas frequently concentrated on.The scholars and experts from different fields serve as resource persons and provide relevant input for in-service and pre-service teachers.
The Department also functions as a Placement Centre and provides an opportunity for the graduate and diploma teachers to get placed in schools.The Alumnae of our college also appointed in schools through placement centre.
The Department organizers outreach programme at Irullipet(Thiruvallur District), where the students teach the primary and middle school children of Irullipet village, on the topics related to Values, Health, Environment etc through skit, songs, dance and roleplay.
